This was the why for the protest.

I actually came up with three signs, each redressing one of the primary tenants of demagoguery: Ignorance, Fear and Prejudice.

The two you see here, "Sex Education Begins..." began refuting the general complacence concerning what "Sex Education" really is with what it has been demonized as. If people were to think about it, really think about it, and observe the signs in society and the world around them they'd see sexual priming in every aspect of life, from how children are clothed to advertising to storytelling to wars and the manifold other ways in which people interact. Too many people see the "sex" part and think it all boils down to fucking.

The second sign, "Civil Unions... Jim Crow" touches on prejudice and the irony of that struggle concerning the relationship between the LGBT community and the African American community. When Civil Rights were being disputed the gays were right there on the forefront fighting for black rights. Last week around 75% of the voting African American community in California voted to deny those same rights to Lesbians and Gays.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

So instead of bitching about that I went a step further. Whether or not "marriage" itself can be agreed upon it's a whole lot likelier that Civil Unions will see (and have seen) a more open reception in the marble halls of parliment.

"Separate" but "Equal".

Where have we heard this before, hm?

Civil Unions are SEPARATE from Marriage but supposedly EQUAL?

yeah right.

The last sign was a quote from Thomas Jefferson. It goes:
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindly followed fear..."
